FM says number of taxpayers likely to double in NDA regime

New Delhi: The number of direct tax filers is likely to double to 7.6 crore during five years of the Modi government, finance minister Arun Jaitley said on Thursday.
Addressing the 29th Conference of Accountants General, Jaitley said that anti-black money measures, formalisation of economy and use of technology to monitor financial transactions have helped the government increase the revenues.
There has been a gradual 15-20% increase in direct tax collections every year, he added.
