Bollywood, Sufi or Jackson— take your pick from what the city's offering on World Music Day
Though it does not take a particular day to celebrate music, it only makes sense to give into some musical melodies on a day devoted to it today. Here's what the city has lined up for World Music Day (WMD) today:
Musician Raghu Dixit, who recently made news for being the only Indian to perform for the Queen of England's Diamond Jubilee gig and also for collaborating with electronic dance duo Bassment Jaxx, will be sharing his personal playlist with the audience as he'll "take over music channel Big CBS Spark." And what would the playlist be like? "An eclectic mix! From classic rock to modern pop… there's going to be something from everyone," says Raghu.

ll be celebrating WMD by giving audiences a chance to download their favourite Bollywood songs. There will be a 35-feet wall created to enable music-buffs to download free music from the latest Bollywood movies. "This wall is AR (Augmented Reality) enabled wherein the music (songs) is inbuilt into the movie posters and the patrons can get to download multiple songs from the wall by scanning the respective movie posters," elaborates a spokesperson. This wall will be installed at CST in Mumbai and Shivaji Stadium Metro Station in Delhi.
For those who wish to soak some live music, internationally acclaimed DJ Tocadiso, who has performed with various internationally acclaimed artists such as David Guetta and Bob Sinclair in the past, will be spinning some of his chartbuster tunes at F Lounge.Diner.Bar tonight. "This is the first time I will play in a club in India. I'm always curious to see different places. I hope people have a good time," says Tocadisco.
Stretching the celebration to a month, online music portal Artist Aloud is promoting sufi music all of June. Hard Rock Café, on the other hand, will pay a tribute to the late rockstar Michael Jackson, ahead of his third death anniversary — with a special performance by Mumbai-based rock band The Thrillers.
