Ahmedabad: The Azadi Kooch (freedom march), a rally by the Rashtriya Dalit Adhikar Manch (RDAM) led by Dalit leader Jignesh Mevani to commemorate one year of the Una flogging incident, reached Tharad taluka in Banaskantha district on Sunday.
The march was kicked off on July 12 from Mehsana. “Our ultimate goal is to abolish the caste system,” he said.
Earlier, the Mehsana district authorities had cancelled the permission granted to Dalit leader Jignesh Mevani for taking out the rally on July 12.
