Black day protest: Patients hit as doctors go on strike

The Indian Medical Association's observation of black day to protest the National Medical Commission (NMC) got a mixed response with most private doctors staying away from treating patients albeit only in the Outpatient Department (OPDs).
The government hospitals on Tuesday continued to function as usual and even some corporate hospitals refused to turn away patients that came to their doors.
It should be noted that the IMA had called for a black day on Tuesday and asked its members and doctors to stay away from OPDs from 6 am to 6 pm. The association, however, had clarified that emergency services would continue to be available.
