Indicating shift in pattern, less Swine Flu cases were recorded in winter in last two years

For the first time, the medical experts in Ahmedabad said swine flu reached its peak during the monsoon and not in the winter. The conclusion was reached after an observation of last two years. Dr Sanket Patel, who saw the unexpected shift, wrote a paper: "Secondary data analysis of an outbreak of Influenza A H1N1 (Swine flu) in Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation area in 2017-18".
Alarmingly, 170 cases and 20 deaths were recorded in Ahmedabad in 2009 and 236 cases and 59 deaths in 2010. However, not a single death was reported in 2011. The trend, an expert said, has changed since 2012. Cases are being reported throughout the year, he said.
