Opposing the bill criminalising triple talaq, the Gujarat Muslim Hit Rakshak Samiti has written to the Opposition Congress asking it to oppose the bill when it is discussed in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday.
In a representation to state Congress president Bharatsinh Solanki, the organisation urged the party to join other secular parties and oppose the bill in the Upper House, and to prevent it from becoming a law. Congress MLA Gayasuddin Sheikh supported the demand, and asked his party to prevent the triple talaq bill from clearing the RS hurdle.
