Police nab 55 offenders amid overspeeding drive

Six hours of campaign on first day resulted in total mop-up of `24,500

A day after Ahmedabad Police Commissioner's notification on curbing speed limit, a total of Rs 24,500 fine was collected from 55 overspeeding offenders during a drive launched by city traffic police on Tuesday.
According to police officials, the drive against overspeeding was conducted on the outskirts of the city during peak hours between 8 am to 12 pm. Five teams of traffic police were deployed at the Auganaj circle, Nirmal University road, Vishal circle, Odhav ring road and Khotarpur road to conduct the campaign.
Tejas Patel, DCP traffic said, "During the six hours of drive, our officials were able to nab down 55 people, who were found violating the notification. The overall fine collected in 6 hours was around Rs 24
