It seems that people of Jaipur and BJP workers know the reason why mayor Nirmal Nahata resigned. People were not taken aback and they seem to only muse at the timing of the resignation on Tuesday which happens to be the third anniversary of the state government. But it is said that for Nahata, the countdown had begun in August. Nahata, who was made the mayor for his clean and honest image had failed miserably in being an administrator and mayor.
He was a councillor in the last board and also chaired the conciliation committee. He was made the mayor hoping that he would use his experience in proving himself. In November 2014, Ashok Lahoti led the race for mayor's post followed by Satyanarain Dhamani. Lahoti was also CM Vasundhara
