The garage department in Jaipur Municipal Corporation has been utilising the defunct vehicles, as old as 10 to 15 years, for garbage collection. As a result, the corporation is unable to clean the city properly. According to a JMC official, the vehicles cannot be used for collecting garbage after five to six years. Om Prakash Gurjar, chairman of garage department, said that we are using the vehicles which are 10-15 years old. We have sent the proposal for new vehicles, but the mayor has not taken any decision so far, he added.
