Happy Doctor's Day
Doctor's Day is celebrated on July 1 all across India to honour legendary physician Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy. Today, patients can greet their doctors personally or wish them by sending greeting cards or flower bouquets.
National Doctor's Day is also commonly celebrated in healthcare organisations as a day to recognise the contributions of doctors to individual lives and communities.
The first Doctors Day was observed on March 30, 1933 in Winder, Georgia.
Eudora Brown Almond, wife of Dr. Charles B. Almond, decided to set aside a day to honour physicians. Greeting cards were mailed and flowers placed on the graves of deceased doctors.
