3 more cases of triple talaq surface in UP

Lucknow: Even as the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights of Marriage) Bill debate continues in the Rajya Sabha with the Congress insisting it be sent to a Select Committee, three cases of such instant divorces (talaq-e-biddat) have surfaced in Uttar Pradesh.
In one instance, Jahan Aara, married to Mohammed Adil Akhtar for 19 years and with two children in Khurmewali Gali in Rampur district, was divorced using the triple talaq. Earlier, Gul Afshan was pronounced triple talaq by her husband. At the time of tabling the Bill in Lok Sabha, Union Law Minister Ravi Shanker had mentioned her plight.
