CR’s Panvel-Roha gift for Gudi Padwa stopped in its tracks

One of Central Railway’s (CR) most important projects for passengers — the laying of an additional 65-km line between Panvel and Roha — is close to being opened to the public, and railway officials believe the auspicious day of Gudi Padwa, which falls on March 28, would be an ideal time for the same. The new line was inspected by the Commissioner of Railway Safety on Monday.
But, commissioning the line on Gudi Padwa would also create a complex situation for CR.
All that remains now is that some portions of the tracks between Panvel and Roha are to be slewed, cut and reconnected in such a way that both the lines can be operational. For train passengers travelling in and out of Mumbai, the benefits can amount to anything between 15-30
