More than 850 dengue cases reported so far this year

More than 850 dengue cases and two deaths have been reported in Maharashtra so far this year. Of these, some 200 were reported in June alone.
According to the state government’s public health department, a bigger increase in the number of dengue cases has been reported in Kolhapur, Pune region in comparison to other parts of the state.
As per the Directorate General of Health Service data, till May 26 around 715 cases were reported in Maharashtra.
Out of the total five deaths due to dengue across the country, two were reported from Kolhapur region.
Last year, Maharashtra reported around 11,011 dengue cases and 70 deaths. According to the officials, rural districts have reported a rise in the number of cases as compare
