Two ex-top cops bear brunt of bandh, express shock

Mumbai: Two former city police commissioners RD Tyagi and MN Singh bore the brunt of Wednesday’s bandh as they had to take detours to reach their destinations.
Both the former top cops, who handled shutdowns and protests during their terms, expressed shock that the protesters not only blocked eastern and western express highways but also the city’s arterial roads, causing severe hardships for Mumbaikars.
They said this has created a bad precedent and in future other protesters may resort to similar tactics.
The duo were unanimous that more police personnel should have been deployed and they should have cleared the traffic on a priority basis while maintaining law-and-order.
