BJP’s poll sprint halts in Nanded

Mumbai: The BJP’s victory run in the recent civic and local body polls in Maharashtra may have hit a speed bump at a town that lies 600 km from Mumbai in the state’s dust bowl of Marathwada. Former chief minister and senior Congress leader Ashok Chavan emerged with a stronger mandate in his bastion by making a clean sweep in the Nanded-Waghala municipal corporation elections, results for which were declared on Thursday.
However, BJP won the four other municipal by-polls in Mumbai, Kolhapur, Pune and Nagpur.
