Beti scheme: Jhunjhunu top performer

Jhunjhunu: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will formally launch his pet scheme ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ from Jhunjhunu, which is adjacent to Haryana. However, the selection raised many questions as Jhunjhunu has worst sex ratio record  in the country.
The answer lies in the turnaround. Two years ago when Jhunjhunu, along with 13 other districts from Rajasthan, was selected for ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ mission,  it was at the bottom of 100 districts across the country where it was launched.
In the first year, there were 837 women per 1000 men in Jhunjhunu two years ago. But, in the very next year, the sex ratio jumped to 903 women per 1000 men and in the third year, it went up further to 952 to become the top district in th
