China distances from envoy’s idea of trilateral cooperation

Following strong reactions from India, China on Wednesday distanced itself from its Ambassador's idea of a trilateral summit between India, China and Pakistan.
Chinese Ambassador to India, Luo Zhaohui, on June 18, had endorsed the idea of a trilateral cooperation between India, China and Pakistan under the aegis of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), saying it could "in the future" help resolve bilateral issues between New Delhi and Islamabad and help maintain peace. The comments drew sharp reactions from Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and the main Opposition, Congress, dubbing it an attempt to inter-nationalise issues between India and Pakistan.
