…Well, almost. Aakriti Singh has bagged a top model award in India, and is now set to compete on the global level

Jaipur-based model Aakriti Anand Singh after having made her mark in the Jaipur International Fashion Week has now brought home the title of Top Model of the World India 2011 at the Indian Princess 2011 contest. The event took place in Mumbai on February 25.
Aakriti was among 30 girls selected from zonal auditions. “After the auditions, we were taken to Ratangiri for our training and grooming. From there, we went to Thailand,” says an excited Aakriti to After Hrs.
“There were contestants from different countries and our team wore saris in the true Indian spirit. We all proudly arrived at the competition venue on tricycles,” she laughs.
Aakriti believes it was the training she received in Thailand, where she sashayed down the ramp with Miss Thailand, that served her well during the grand finale in Mumbai.
“There I was crowned by Zeenat Aman and Rati Agnihotri,” she gushes triumphantly.
Aakriti will now go on to represent India for the Top Model of the World competition, which will be held in Germany in November 2011.
