Provogue (India) Ltd, the country's fourth-largest retail company, is opening its first Prozone mall in Aurangabad on Friday through its subsidiary Prozone, its joint venture with UK's Capital Shopping Centres Group Plc (formerly called Liberty International Plc).
Prozone Aurangabad, a horizontally designed development of over 1 million square feet, is completing its phase one on Friday. It will include a mall, a hotel and office blocks.
The mall that has been designed keeping the regional community of Marathwada in mind, will create 5,000 jobs in Aurangabad. The company has already employed over 4,000 people for the first phase construction, which lasted three years. Once the hotel and office blocks are ready, more jobs will be created.
Nikhil Chaturvedi, managing director, Provogue and Prozone, is hoping to attract millions of tourists at the mall.
The mall will offer the entire Marathwada community a vast range of shopping and entertainment experiences for the first time from India's leading retailers like Shoppers Stop, Westside, Pantaloon, Globus, Reliance Trends, Croma and others.
Aurangabad residents can look forward to shopping at fashion brands like Provogue, Nike, Reebok, United Colours of Benetton, Wills Lifestyle and Allen Solly, while speciality stores across categories of footwear, kids, jewellery and books will also be a part of the mall.
"Prozone's mantra 'All my wants, in one place, for the whole family' has driven every aspect of design, services and amenities of the shopping mall," Chaturvedi said.
In all, the mall will comprise hypermarkets like Tata Trent's Star India Bazaar, a food court having Indian and international quick service restaurants (QSRs), a 5-screen multiplex that will come up in phase two, a 40,000 sq ft family entertainment centre, a banquet hall and many retail stores.
Capital Shopping, the joint venture partner, owns 9 of the top 21 regional shopping centres in the UK.
"In the UK, Capital Shopping Centres attract more than 300 million visitors per annum. Prozone Aurangabad will have a significant impact on increasing the amount of time tourists spend in the city and can have huge impacts and benefits to the local populace and the exchequer," Chaturvedi said.
