NGO distributes school kits
Over 4000 under-privileged students from Ulhasnagar will receive stationery kits, as a part of a mega kit distribution drive undertaken by Umang Foundation, a Mumbai based NGO.
Ashish Goyal, founder, Umang Foundation said this was the 264th event by the organisation and it was one of the mega event planned for one-day. The students are from various schools in Ulhasnagar. "These students are being selected after considering their background. Parents of many of them are daily wage earners or are engaged in paltry work," he said.
The reason behind distributing kits to the children was, many times these children stop going to school when they do not have note-books or pencils. "The provision of stationery will ensure that these children do not have to stop their studies due to the lack of study material," said Goyal.
Last year the organisation had distributed kits to 2050 children from three different schools and an orphanage. Due to this the students could have one book for one subject, instead of writing everything in one book. The kids were happy on receiving the books.
