The event coincided with a free eye check-up camp held at belapur village

NGOs Inter Mission Care and Rehabilitation Centre (IMCARES) Mumbai, Saahara Charitable Trust, Mumbai, Laxmi Charitable Trust, Panvel along with Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) and Gateways Ministries International (GMI) organised an eye check-up camp at Belapur. The camp which saw participation of over 350 children and adults, also had a talk on general hygiene and health tips during monsoon season.
The participants were not only checked, but also counselled on HIV/AIDS by IMCARES staff. One of the participants, 17-year old Ajay Somas, said, "We were informed about AIDS and its effects through the camp. We have decided to spread this message to our friends too."
A film produced by IMCARES, 'Mein Jeena Chahata Hoon-A Reason to Live' was also screened in the evening which was watched by over 200 people.
Seema Baghel, a social worker and resident of Belapur said, "Basically, we wanted all social organizations to get together to connect to the community and serve them in unity. We hope to have such camps in areas like dental, gynaecology and ENT in future."
Speaking on the camp, Timothy Gaikwad, Director, IMCARES said, "God values people and what I saw here today was NGOs coming together and valuing the poor because they deserve to have access to better health facilities.
It was a privilege for us to be a part of reaching out to the poor with our doctors, nurses and skilled counsellors." IMCARES conducted the medical camp in their state-of-the-art medical mobile van "Agape Sparsh" which is fully equipped with complete medical facilities along with audio/visual facilities to educate people on health issues especially HIV/AIDS.
