Youngest and oldest corporators from Sena

Both the youngest and oldest corporators in Thane are from the saffron party. The youngest corporator, Vihang Sarnai, 23, has been elected from ward 16 (b), while the oldest, Anita Birje, 61, from ward 59 (a). Completing 30 years in politics, Anita Birje won the TMC elections for the fourth time and is now the senior most corporator in the city. She has been elected as a corporator from three different wards before and this time she got elected from B-Cabin area. Birje said, “I have come across many issues in 30 years. This time I will communicate with senior citizens in my area to resolve their problems.” “All these years I have been working for the cause of women empowerment and now I will also take the problems of elderly people. I want to work for the problems of senior citizens as they are mostly neglected,” She added. Birje has worked in areas like Ram Maruti Road, Vartak Nagar, Wagle Estate, Samta Nagar, Chendni Koliwada in the city. The youngest corporator, Vihang Sarnaik, is an architect by profession and is a son of Shiv Sena MLA Pratap Sarnaik. He is carrying forward the political legacy of his family and aims to provide better infrastructure like proper roads, drainage system, garden, gymnasium, sports complex, competitive examination centres. Vihang said, “Apart from providing basic facilities, I want to work for youngsters here.”
