‘Ashamed I didn’t visit Jaipur earlier’

Contemporary artists Atul Dodiya, who is on his first visit to the Pink City, seems to have fallen in love with its heritage and ‘mind-blowing’ art


For the Indian contemporary artist Atul Dodiya, who has been painting for three decades, it was a first visit on Tuesday. He admits to being embarrassed – rather, ‘ashamed’ in his own words – about waiting to visit a city so rich in culture and heritage for this long a time.
In conversation with After Hrs, Dodiya said, “Though I have been to Udaipur and Chittorgarh but I am ashamed of not coming to Jaipur earlier.” Dodiya, who was in the city for a session during the Cartist Automobile Art Festival, said that some of Rajasthani miniature paintings from 17th-18th centuries are masterpiece of world art.
