Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar opened his week by triggering controversy as he treaded green carpets spread out for him on a visit to flood victims in Darbhanga district.
While the Opposition latched on to the episode to cry “misuse of power”, the ruling Janata Dal (United) defended the move.
On Monday, the district administration spread out a green carpet at the helipad after Nitish landed, and also at the relief centre at a state-run school in Mirzapur village that he visited, apparently to protect his feet from muck.
Sources revealed that the district administration had made special provisions to give the CM a VIP welcome.
