CPI(M) backs expulsion of MP Banerjee

CPI(M) state secretariat on Wednesday recommended the expulsion of Rajya Sabha MP Ritabrata Banerjee from the party after he made certain allegations against Politburo members.
The recommendation to the party’s central committee came two days after 38-year-old Banerjee, in an interview to a private news channel, said central party leaders and Politburo members such as Prakash Karat and Brinda Karat had kept party general secretary Sitaram Yechury from getting a third term as Rajya Sabha member out of jealousy.
He alleged that party MP Mohammed Salim became a Politburo member because the highest body of the party had a quota for Muslims. He had also said that Salim and his son had waged a campaign against him since he was nominate
