Almost every hour, a child in the Capital falls victim to a crime. On an average, 22 crimes against children were reported every day from Delhi in 2016, and the number was 25 a day in 2015. In May this year, a three-year-old girl was brutally raped by her neighbour in central Delhi’s Anand Parbat area after which she had to undergo an emergency surgery. Despite the critical condition, she survived the sexual assault, and was given rigorous medication and counseling sessions. In March, a four-year-old girl was allegedly raped and murdered by her 16-year-old neighbour inside a semi-constructed toilet in outer Delhi’s Narela.
