City prays to rain god after 10% water cut
The BMC imposed a 10% water cut from Sunday following erratic rain and depleting water levels in its lakes. Residents fear that the cuts will increase in the coming days as the city
is still deprived of a normal monsoon.
As of June 30, the BMC reported 66,354MLD of water across its six lakes —Modak Sagar, Tansa, Vihar, Tulsi, Upper Vaitarna and Bhatsa. In 2011 and 2009, the levels reported in the lakes on the same day were 1,69,042MLD and 1,62,641MLD respectively. In 2010, it was 63,144MLD.
