State government counts on Mumbai Civic Chief Praveen Pardeshi’s Latur earthquake experience to deal with flood mitigation and rehabilitation efforts

Mumbai Civic Chief Praveen Pardeshi has a glorious reputation that the state government wants to put to good use in flood mitigation. Pardeshi had played a crucial role as the Latur District Collector to rehabilitate the 50,000 earthquake-affected families in record time when NCP chief Sharad Pawar was the chief minister of Maharashtra. Now, incumbent chief minister Devendra Fadnavis has assigned the same person, Pardeshi, for the relief and rehabilitation of flood-affected families in western Maharashtra.
As per the primary report, more than five lakh families were displaced while more than one lakh hectares of crops were damaged in this flood. The state government has sought more than Rs 6,000 crore for the relief and rehabilitation
