Controversial bill to ensure reservation for those living along International Border in J&K

The Union Home Ministry on Monday introduced the controversial Jammu and Kashmir Reservation (Amendment) Bill 2019 to replace an ordinance issued by the earlier Modi government.
By adding the words “international border” in the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation Act, 2004, the bill seeks to provide benefits of 3% reservation to the persons living in areas adjoining International Border at par with persons living in areas adjoining Actual Line of Control in recruitment, promotions and admission in different professional courses to various categories of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, socially and educationally backward classes.
