State body sends letter requesting the IOA to allot the Games to them

The South Asian Federation (SAF) Games have got a fresh lease of life after the Jharkhand Olympic Association (JOA) has put forth a proposal to host them. The development has come only a few days after sports minister Ajay Maken expressed India’s helplessness to host the Games till 2014 due to Delhi and general election in 2013 and 2014. Earlier, the Delhi government and the union sports ministry had staked claim to conduct the Games in 2014. However, JOA’s interest has given the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) an option to conduct the Games as per schedule in 2013 using the infrastructure built for the conduct of the National Games.
