Legal department mulls e-summons

Aims to save time, efficiently use manpower, eliminate irregularities

to reduce pendencyAhmedabad: In keeping with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Digital India initiative and buoyed by the results of the e-challan system started by the traffic department, the state's legal department has decided to issue e-summons in criminal cases.
With an aim to eradicate irregularities in the present system of delivery of summons by police which often adds to the pendency cases, the legal department issued a notification on February 3, stating that a system would be put in place by next year where summons would be issued through fax or email.
