Me first! Ministers, babus rush to remove beacons

Gandhinagar: Quick to implement PM Narendra Modi's decision to ban use of red beacon lights on VIP vehicles from next month, the Gujarat government ordered for removal of the beacons from all government vehicles. And, in an apparent bid to win brownie points, ministers have got into a race to implement the decision. They were seen removing the beacons themselves!
Leading the pack was minister of state for sports, youth and cultural affairs Rajendra Trivedi, who removed the beacon light from his car late on Wednesday evening. Chief minister Vijay Rupani did so on Thursday morning during his visit to Valsad.
Soon enough, the trend became viral. By Thursday evening, many ministers and babus had taken off the beacons.
