More seats for Indians in Russian univ

Mumbai: After 133 Indian students were forced to abandon their MBBS course at Smolensk State Medical University (SSMU) in Russia, as the college began instructing them in Russian language in the second year, the university has now decided to increase the number of seats for Indian students in the English-medium course.
“The University is planning to increase the number of seats in the English medium course,” MY Dyakov, Dean, faculty for foreign students, said through e-mail. “We intend to add 90 seats for Indian students and are planning for an extensive rise in foreign students that will be taught in English.”
There are currently 180 seats for the MBBS course in English medium.
