Residents complain that politicians only visit them when elections are near, want immediate change

Asarwa, an Ahmedabad constituency, is a reserved seat. With the largest hospital in Asia, the constituency needs a lot in terms of infrastructure. According to an estimate, there are 240 slum pockets in the constituency. Both major political parties in the state are eying it, this polls. There is also a strong possibility that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), will compete for this seat or support the strongest contender. In 2012, three parties contested the polls. Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) candidate RM Patel won the people's mandate. From Indian National Congress (INC), Mangal Surajkar was fielded, who was then municipal councillor.
