Pune school rape: HC okays conviction of staff

The Bombay High Court has upheld the ten year imprisonment handed down to a Computer lab assistant of a school for raping a student inside the school premises.
Justice Ajey Gadkari, while upholding the conviction of the accused, Kailash Memjade, said, “The evidence on record fully establishes the guilt of the appellant beyond reasonable doubt. There was no reason for the victim to implead the accused falsely in the present crime. This court is of the opinion that the trial court had rightly convicted the appellant for the charges.”
Memjade was working as an assistant with Saint Hildas High School, Pune. The victim, a 12-year-old, was a Class 5 student, who used to refer to the accused as ‘Kailash uncle’. On February 23, 201
