Recreating Majuli

Shilpika Bordoloi has taken an oath: she intends to dance to her heart’s content. And she transfers her passion for the arts quite effortlessly onto her
audiences.
“I started training in Manipuri dance when I was three years old, and moved on to become a Bharatnatyam dancer. I have also learnt Kalaripayattu and other martial art forms, but somehow, I was not quite satisfied. By 2007, I realised that the classical dance forms are not my style and I wanted to experiment and find my own method — something that is more than the usual dance forms. And that is when I started working on solos, merging various other elements like voice, light and techniques with my dance,” says the dancer.
