These coppersmiths' faith glow in tradition

Twashta Kasar Ganesh Mandal's Ganeshotsav is a century-old festivity

For over hundred years, the Twashta Kasar community (coppersmiths) in Kasba Peth has kept their workmanship alive and maintained the tradition of celebrating Ganesh festival, and using it as a platform to raise social issues.
The place where these people, who came from various parts of the country, settled in Kasba Peth area became known as Tambat Aali because of the rising popularity of their copper utensils.
These coppersmiths also started celebrating Ganesh festival to bring people together.
Twashta Kasar community started celebrating Ganeshotsav from 1893, when one the members donated his land to build a Ganesh temple.
