Woman rescued from Saudi
Ahmedabad: It was an emotional scene at the Mithakhali office of Mahila police station when Hafijabanu Malik, 45, a resident of Shahpur, arrived at around 7 pm accompanied by four cops.
Family of Malik, who was trafficked to Saudi Arabia by agents on the promise of a job in a beauty parlour but instead made to do household chores, erupted in tears when the Mahila crime branch team brought her to the city via road from Mumbai.
Malik's flight had landed at Mumbai airport at 4.45 am. Her return was made possible after the state education minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama contacted the Home department which in turn contacted the Ministry of External Affairs.

In her statement to police, Malik stated, "I was told that I would be given a beauty parlour job. Thus I went there two months back..They tried to push me into prostitution. My efforts to escape were not successful and the accused instead started to give injections in my leg, which made me unconscious. I was able to convince a Saudi man to inform my family in Ahmedabad about my plight and shared their number with him."
The unmarried woman who had gone to Riyadh for work currently resides in Ahmedabad with her sister. After her successful rescue in Riyadh, she landed in Mumbai on Sunday morning and subsequently brought back here by our officials.” - JK Bhatt, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch)
