After EC snub over party symbol, rebel leader says he’s fighting a ‘mountain’

Unmoved by the Election Commission’s decision not to heed to his claim over the party and its symbol, rebel Janata Dal (United) leader Sharad Yadav on Wednesday announced calling his party’s national council meet in Delhi on October 8.
Citing lack of documents to support, the Commission had sent a letter to Sharad Yadav faction about its inability to take cognisance of their claim. The EC’s decision had come in response to Yadav faction approaching the Commission on August 25, staking claim over the party’s election symbol and counter claims by Nitish Kumar that the sizeable support of MLAs, MLCs, MPs and national council members is with them.
