Koevermans takes charge of Indian team
Finally, Indian football is going the Dutch way. After the much-hyped stint of Englishman Bob Houghton, who quit last year as the head coach of the national team, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) named former Dutch player Wim Koevermans as the new coach here on Friday.
He was unveiled by AIFF general secretary Kushal Das at the Football House. Koevermans signed a two-year contract and will take charge of his new job from July 1.
After Houghton's exit, AIFF had appointed interim coaches Armando Colaco who worked for just three months before parting ways with AIFF last year. Later, Houghton's assistant Savio Madeira was appointed as a stop-gap arrangement till his contract expired last May.
