My Story
My journey to Olympics experienced a great deal of ups and downs and has left some bitterness in my mind. It all started from the selection trials at Varanashi in 1971. I had participated in Indian style and finished first. Later, I was told that only freestyle and Greco Roman wrestlers can take part in the training camp.
Out of desperation, I decided to participate in freestyle. Even though I had absolutely no experience in the format, I managed to excel in it within three days and beat all the five opponents. However, I had other obstacles to face.
