Mumbai: Senior New Zealand batsman Ross Taylor has revealed not many reckoned that his and his captain Kane Williamson’s assessment of the pitch while they were batting was right.
Taylor and Williamson were criticised for their slow batting on the first day of the first semifinal against India on Tuesday, with the duo managing to add only 65 runs in 17 overs before the latter was dismissed. The Kiwis went on to stun India, defending their 239/8 with 18 runs.
Taylor, who was unbeaten when rain halted play after 46.1 overs on the first day and was dismissed on 74 on the reserve day on Wednesday, said the two had it all planned.
