Mumbai: Ekta Mestry, 27, dreads the evenings when the aarti is about to begin at all the five temples around her residence in Mumbai Central’s AC market area. “My 7-month-old baby gets irritated and is inconsolable,” says the mother, who has a full-time job. Ekta’s baby has been disturbed by the sound since the time she was born, which affects her mood and sleep cycle.
Most of the days it is Ekta’s mother-in-law who takes care of the baby. “We have taken my baby Reyanshi to our family doctor, who advised us to close the windows or put cotton in her ears, but it is just not working,” said the exasperated mother.
