10 trekkers killed in TN forest fire

Chennai:A fire that broke out at the Kurangani reserve forest in Tamil Nadu’s Theni district on Sunday killed ten trekkers, including five women and a child, officials said on Monday. The victims were part of a group that was on a weekend expedition.
“Of the 36 trekkers, 27 were rescued from the hills while nine were dead,” said Theni Collector Mariam Pallavi Baldev. Of the survivors, 17 were hospitalised, seven are battling for lives, she added.
