18 yrs on, Kargil martyr’s son makes supreme sacrifice

Srinagar: India has always come first for the family of martyr Gunner Astosh Kumar of 13 Rashtriya Rifles. Gunner Kumar’s father, Havildar Lal Sahib, responded to the call of duty and fought Pakistan armymen disguised as intruders before laying down his life for the motherland on the treacherous mountains of Kargil in 1999.
Eighteen years on, Havildar Lal’s son, Gunner Astosh Kumar, made the country proud again while fighting the highly-entrenched militants at Parray Moholla in Hajin area of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district. During the encounter in Hajin on Tuesday, he was seriously injured and shifted to the 92 Base Hospital where he succumbed.
