Asiad gold winner faces rape charge

Doha Asian Games gold medal-winning woman runner Pinki Pramanik was arrested on Thursday for allegedly raping a woman in Kolkata. The victim also alleged that Pramanik was actually a man. A gender test will be conducted on Pramanik at a government hospital after which she will be produced in a court.Pramanik's contemporaries and the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) officials have expressed shock over the allegations. AFI secretary CK Valsan said they will decide whether to strip her of the medals only after receiving an official communication from the Kolkata police.
