Bhaiyyu Maharaj shoots himself

Spiritual leader, political advisor and power-broker Bhaiyyu Maharaj committed suicide by shooting himself in the head on Tuesday in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Prima facie, it seems that the 50-year-old was driven to take the extreme step by domestic issues. His supposed suicide note only said he was stressed and that someone should take care of the family.
The self-professed saint was born in 1968 as Uday Singh Deshmukh and briefly modelled for a clothing brand. He exercised deep influence across political parties, which often placed him in the role of a mediator.
