Cop pleads with Naxal sister to give up arms

It was a rare sight when a policeman in Chhattisgarh came face-to-face with his sister, who was a Naxal, during an encounter. The police officer, Vetti Rama, was himself a former Maoist who gave up violence in 2018 and surrendered.
On July 29, Rama went on an operation with security forces in Baletong area. While two Naxals died in the encounter, Rama’s elder sister Kanni managed to escape. After the operation, the forces tried to contact her, while Rama wrote letters to his sister pleading her to surrender.
