Dawood home auctioned off for 3.5 crore

Mumbai: Dawood Ibrahim’s rundown property on Pakmodia Street in Bhendi Bazaar went under the hammer on Thursday for Rs 3.51 crore, bid by the Saifee Burhani
Upliftment Trust (SBUT), which is carrying out cluster development of the old south Mumbai neighbourhood.
The four-storey Masulla Building, also known as Amina Mansion, belonged to the underworld don, who fled the country in the late 1980s.
The other bidder for the property was Delhi resident Bhupendra Bharadwaj, an advocate, who had won the public auction by bidding Rs 1.91 crore, Rs 1 lakh more than SBUT.
The auction was held by the Ministry of Finance, under the Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulators (Forfeiture of Property) Act, 1976 (SAFEMA).
