Earthquake at Uttarakhand jolts New Delhi

New Delhi: The national Capital was jolted on Wednesday evening when an earthquake of 5.5 magnitude hit Uttarakhand. Strong tremors were felt at 8.49 pm.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the epicenter of the moderate intensity earthquake was reported 121 km east of Dehradun, in Uttarakhand’s Rudraprayag district. It struck the city at a depth of 30 km, the IMD said.
No damage to life and property has been reported. Tremors were also felt in Roorkee and Dehradun, and in parts of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. Many took to social networking sites to update about the tremors. “I felt something moving while I was at my workplace.,” said Asif Khan, a marketing professional.
